I had a radical hysterectomy in Dec. 2011 and now I am facing radiation and chemo. This is all so new to me and am really scared of what I am going to go through. I have a husband that had mini strokes in Oct. 2011 and I am not sure he understands the way I feel and is not much of a support to me. I would appreciate anyone who could give me feedback to help me through this. I will have at least 3 weeks radiation, maybe more, and see the chemo. Dr. on Tues. to see what will happen with that.

Well I know someone who just finished their treatment with radiation and chemo. Keep following the doctors orders. The treatments are hell but they do work. Sorry to say that so to the point but It knocked down the person I know right in bed for several months. You will need someone to take care of you because you most likely be in bed alot after each treatment. I hope this helps. Stay strong you can beat this.

Hi Susie1154, I am so sorry that you're going through this right now. My mother actually recently finished her chemo and radiation treatment, and although it was difficult for her, one of the blessings was all the people she met throughout her journey. I went to a lot of appointments with her, and you'd be amazed by the friendliness of all the doctors, nurses, but especially the other patients. I really think the support from other people saved her. My advice is to be open to other people. Share your story, and listen to theirs. Also, there's some great advice at http://onlineceucredit.com/edu/social-work-ceus-can, if you're interested. I know you can do this! I'll be keeping you in my thoughts.

I just finished my first week of 3 days of chemo and 5 radiation, I seem to of handled it quite well. I have 3 weeks before my next 3 days of chemo but the radiation those weeks for 5 days a week. I am tired but I also just admitted my husband into the hospital with pneumonia so there is alot of other stresses on me . I decided I need to just take this one day at a time and hope for the best. I also have to go be evalulated for some internal radiation to have after I am done with this round of 4 more weeks of radiation. I have some fast moving cells and have spread since my hysterectomy in Dec. 2011.

Oh God Bless you for being so strong during this difficult time in you and your husband's life. Do you have loving family and friends that can help and support you. We here can help you anytime. Sounds like you are really strong taking it one day at a time that is the best thing to do. Sometimes I have to take it minute by minute but that is okay. We all go at our own pace. Just concentrate on what needs to be done for that one day and I know you can make it through. Thoughts and Prayers to you and your husband. Thanks for sharing.
